acgcToday is a busy one for ACGC athletics.

The competitions begin with the Class 1A District 1 wrestling tournament in Guthrie Center, featuring freshman Seth Danker at 106 pounds. Danker will square off against Logan-Magnolia’s Kaleb King in one of the first matches of the day. Both come into Districts with over 30 wins on the season.

King won the Section 2 title in Missouri Valley last weekend, while Danker finished second in the Section 1 tournament in Ogden. The winner of that match will automatically advance to the championship round, with the winner earning a trip to Wells Fargo Arena and the Class 1A state tournament. Should Danker fall in the first match, he has an opportunity to wrestle back and claim the second spot at state, a feat he accomplished to make it to Districts today.

Later tonight, the Charger girls basketball team will begin their postseason push against the AHSTW Lady Vikes. The Lady Vikes come into the game tonight winners of five straight, while the Chargers have dropped their last seven. The winner will clash with the Treynor Cardinals in the Region 7 quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Cardinals are ranked 2nd in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union rankings, just ahead of Panorama, and have just one loss this season.

You can catch that game on KKRF True Country K107.9. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:45pm with tip-off set for 7 from Avoca.
