The Greene County Supervisors recently approved a resolution to share the operating costs of a new animal shelter.
Supervisor Chair John Muir explains why they needed to approve a resolution agreeing to share the operational cost for a new animal shelter.
“I think this was for fundraising. We are behind the whole project and on board. If they can raise enough money to build it, I think it’ll be a much better facility for everybody: the animals, the people who work there and the whole community.”
The Supervisors previously agreed to pay $15,000 toward the operational budget, pending construction completion of the building. Currently, the Board pays $6,000 towards the operation of the current animal shelter. The new facility is estimated to cost over $1.1 million to build.
