Of all the services the Perry Public Library offers, one of the most popular is the after school snack program.

Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says starting at 3:30 p.m. every weekday but Wednesday, kids are able to come to the library and eat something healthy while taking part in the rest of what the library has to offer. On Wednesdays the school releases early, so the snack is offered at 2:30. Kestel says they felt providing a snack was one small thing they could do for kids that could have a big impact on them.

“We decided that it was a good thing to do in Perry. We have things like yogurt and peanut butter crackers, we have lots of fruits and vegetables. And the children just show up and they receive a snack and a show, and they’re welcome to come to that any day. And if they have little siblings with them, they’re welcome to come too!”

The snack program goes all year long, including during the summer. Anyone with questions about this or any other program at the library can stop by or call 515-465-3569.
