The ACGC Charger basketball teams will close out the regular season tonight with West Central Activities Conference doubleheader action against the Woodward-Granger Hawks.
For the Charger girls, a win would give them their first season sweep over a conference opponent in program history. In the first game between these two teams, junior Jadeyn Carrick took over in the second half, securing her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. While the Chargers are looking for a season sweep, the 3-18 Hawks are still looking for their first conference win this season. Woodward-Granger comes into the night 0-15 in WCAC action.
The nightcap will feature the first of back-to-back games against the Hawks for the Charger boys. ACGC will play Woodward-Granger in the first round of this year’s Class 2A District 15 playoffs. In their first meeting, W-G junior Sam Peterson’s 15 points helped to elevate the Hawks to a convincing 62-37 victory. However, the Hawks’ leading scorer Keith Braunschweig was inactive that night due to a concussion. The sophomore will be back on the floor tonight for the second meeting in Guthrie Center.
ACGC senior Caden Wardyn led all Chargers with 15 points in that first meeting. The Chargers are still looking for their first win since a 61-54 victory at home against Panorama on December 9th. You can catch both games on KKRF2 and the Raccoon Valley Radio Network, with pre-game coverage starting at 5:45pm.
