A pair of home games is on the docket this week as the regular season starts to wind down for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers basketball teams. The Tigers begin their final week of Raccoon River Conference competition tonight when the Carlisle Wildcats pay a visit to Dallas County for a varsity doubleheader. Carlisle swept ADM in their previous meeting last month, winning the girls contest 57-54 and the boys game, 86-58.
The ADM girls basketball team (8-11 overall) overcame an anemic offensive performance Friday in Polk County, defeating the Bondurant-Farrar Lady Jays (7-12 overall), 32-29. Sophomore Delaney Bertman stood out for the Tigers with 12 points, and 13 rebounded. ADM nearly came away with a victory the last time they faced Carlisle. The Tigers led 43-38 after three quarters but was outscored 19-11 in the final eight minutes for a 57-54 loss. Sophomore Abbie Hlas highlighted ADM with 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists against the Wildcats.
The ADM boys basketball team (3-14 overall) have two more opportunities at their first conference win of the season. Their latest attempt came Friday in a 67-55 loss to the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays (9-9 overall). ADM fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and never could overcome the early deficit. Senior Rylan Heffernan topped ADM’s scoring sheet with 15 points. Carlisle’s 28 point victory over ADM last month is the largest margin the Tigers have lost by in any game this season.
