There is currently a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 between the DeSoto and VanMeter exits.

Just before 1 p.m. the Dallas County Dispatch paged emergency responders to around mile marker 112 near the bridge over the Raccoon River, saying there were at least eight cars and two semis involved in the accident. One of the semis has a punctured fuel tank that was leaking into the water. The Interstate is currently blocked in the westbound lanes, and traffic is moving slowly eastbound. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if they can. There is no word yet on any injuries involved with the wreck.

The Dallas County Sheriff, Van Meter First Responders, Van Meter Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services from Van Meter, DeSoto and Waukee have been called to the scene.
