Emergency crews responded to a house fire in Perry Sunday morning, which was reportedly caused by a blown fuse.

At around 9:30 a.m., the Perry Fire Department was dispatched to a house in the 1800 block of West 3rd Street in Perry. According to initial reports, a fuse was blown in one of the house’s closets, which ignited a fire that spread to the attic. The homeowners, Andrew and Mary Carlson, were watching television when the power went out because of the blown fuse, and they soon noticed the smell of smoke. The family of four were able to escape the house unharmed. When firefighters arrived, they were able to control the fire before it could spread any further.

Much of the house was reportedly unscathed, though there was smoke and water damage in addition to the fire damage. The Perry Police Department and the Perry First Responders aided at the scene.
