The day bike enthusiasts have been waiting for is almost here. The 41st annual Bike Ride to Rippey (BRR Ride) is this Saturday.
The Perry Chamber of Commerce is hosting the BRR Ride, which has traditionally been one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. Chamber Board member and BRR Committee leader Lee Coons says they’ve done everything they can to spread the word about the event, but he points out that the most important determinant for success is out of their hands. “This is kind of our big week, because we have so many weather watchers right now that’re out there, you know waiting to pull the trigger: ‘Are we going to go, are we not going to go?’ That final temperature could make or break it, if you will. We get that sub-zero weather like we had two or three weeks ago, you know our numbers might be down a little bit.”
Coons adds, regardless of the weather, there will always be at least a few hardcore riders taking part. This year that number seems especially high, with more than 250 riders signed up as of last week. The festivities will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday morning, with registration and the Lions Club fundraiser breakfast at Hotel Pattee.
