After spending a majority of the month on the road, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers basketball teams close the January schedule with a home game inside the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers league season continues as the Carroll Tigers descend on Adel for a varsity doubleheader. The schools split the first doubleheader of the season in Carroll on December 19; The ADM girls defeated Carroll 58-45, while the Carroll boys upended ADM, 81-60.
The ADM girls basketball team (7-10 overall; 6-4 RRC) is in the middle of a season-best three game winning streak with all the victories coming inside the Raccoon River Conference. Their latest triumph came Friday in Perry as the Tigers defeated the Jayettes, 53-42. Sophomore point guard Abbie Hlas filled up the stat sheet, registering 18 points, six rebounds, three steals, and one assist. ADM junior Emma Jacobsen had a record-breaking performance last time out against Carroll (3-11 overall; 2-7 RRC), registering a career-best 21 points and set a school record with five three-point baskets made in a single game.
The ADM boys basketball team (3-11 overall; 0-10 RRC) came up short in their latest attempt at their first Raccoon River Conference win of the season. The Tigers overcame a 15 point first quarter deficit to force overtime against Perry. The Bluejays outscored ADM, 11-3, in the final quarter for a 70-62 win. Junior Koby Hardcastle and senior Caleb Herrick both recorded double-doubles for ADM in the setback. Hardcastle scored 19 points and secured 10 rebounds while Herrick added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Carroll (9-5 overall; 8-2 RRC) and ADM were tied at halftime in their first meeting of the season; Carroll outscored ADM 29-10 in the third quarter and ran away with an 81-60 victory.
