greenfieldOn Monday, Greenfield Chamber Main Street will officially kick off 2018 with their annual meeting and social at the Warren Cultural Center. During the meeting GCMS will talk about their plans for 2018, including one to make it a little easier for residents and tourists to find desired locations around town.

In 2017 the organization hired a team of consultants to complete a wayfinding system plan, which includes physical and digital signage. These types of plans are similar to systems in Des Moines around the State Capitol building. GCMS has completed the planning stage and is now working on funding the projects.

Phase one of the project will be to install large community maps that show various services and attractions around town. GCMS Director Stacie Hull talks about what these signs would resemble. “It would be similar to like a big map at the mall. When you kind of go up to the kiosk and you’re trying to find the places you can buy a purse. We’re going to do something like that for our whole town.”

The locations for these signs would include: the town square, one each on Highways 92 and 25, and near Greenfield and Nodaway Lakes. Hull hopes these signs will help promote the town and bring tourists in from the surrounding area.
