The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has notified the public that a new Linden resident is registered with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Nicholas Andrew Furness was convicted in 2006 for third degree sexual abuse, resulting in his addition to the registry. He lives in the 300 block of East Guthrie Street in Linden. Iowa law authorizes a criminal or juvenile justice agency to notify the public when a person required to register as a sex offender enters their community. The notification is intended to protect the public and make them aware of the individual. However, any action taken by anyone against the person, including vandalism of property, verbal or written threat of physical harm, or physical assault against the person or their family can result in the arrest and prosecution of the offending individual.
