In their normal beginning-of-the-year tasks, the Dallas County Treasurer’s Office submitted cancellation requests for several outstanding checks from the past year.
In total, there were nine checks issued by the County, dating back to late 2016, that had not yet been cashed. Most were for relatively small amounts, though there was one uncashed check for $1,930. County Treasurer Mitch Hambleton reported he had made several attempts to contact the parties issued the outstanding checks, but none had responded. The Board of Supervisors approved the cancellation of the nine checks, which will be credited to the unclaimed fees account.
Anyone in possession of one of the outstanding checks can still claim the money, but they have until January 23, 2019 to do so.
