Thursday evening was a night of celebration for Midwest Partnership staff and about 100 other guests. The economic development organization celebrated achievements from the past year with their annual dinner meeting at the Lake Panorama National Resort and Conference Center. During the event, the Guy Powell and Entrepreneur of the Year Awards were given out, and Adair County residents were the recipients of both.
Jack E. Brown of Greenfield is the Guy Powell Award winner. Brown was nominated for his selfless volunteering for many local organizations and projects. The list of organizations Brown is associated with include: the Development Corporation of Greenfield, Greenfield Chamber Main Street, the Greenfield Lions Club, and the Greenfield American Legion. These organizations have helped foster a positive small business climate in the Greenfield community. The Guy Powell Award was established to honor Powell, former president of the Midwest Partnership EDC Board of Directors, for his philanthropy and volunteer efforts.
Brad and Becky Kramer of Orient were recognized with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The couple owns and operates Kramer’s Cafe and recently renovated a two-story commercial building that now houses Harry’s Bar and Orient Lofts. The couple have helped restore downtown Orient, and their business ventures have contributed to increased activity in the area. Orient Lofts in particular has hosted several events and overnight guests.
