20953740_2005261666359009_4665783022859756181_nFor decades, the Casey Service Club has worked to advance community life in the town of just over 1,200. The Club hosts various events and fundraisers aimed at gaining resources for improvement projects and scholarships for Casey seniors.

Similar to a chamber of commerce, the Club hosts several events throughout the year. These events include the annual Casey Fun Days, a two-day festival celebrating the town and its residents. Currently the Club is working to make improvements to the city’s Abram Rutt Park and Campground. Treasurer Brett Wedemeyer talks about the plans to update the park. “We’re trying to raise money to put new rock in all the campsites and re-rock the roads. The shelter house is supposed to be replaced here this spring and to improve the electrical grid and shower houses.”

The group originally began around the 1940s as the Casey Commercial Club. The Club meets the fourth Monday of every month at 5:30pm at the Casey Visitor Center. To hear more about the Club, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
