IMG_2027The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The City Council officially approved the sale of the property at 207 N 7th Street. After a public hearing on the matter, the Council awarded the property to the bidder at $1,500 and has officially disposed of the property.

Then Mayor Dennis Kunkle brought up the seemingly high number of complaints and confusion associated with snow ordinance compliance. Kunkle wants a discussion on solving the dilemmas on next month’s meeting agenda. Kunkle hopes the Council can come to an agreement on a better path moving forward. “It’s just come to my attention (in) the last couple of years, what we passed a few years ago just isn’t working the way we wanted. We’re getting too many complaints, too many situations where people can not move their vehicles for whatever reason. So I’m just asking the Council to come up with something that’s workable for the City employees, to clean the streets, but workable for the public.”

Then Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library Director Pat Sleister presented their annual report. According to the report: the meeting room was utilized 251 times, 27,144 people used the library, and volunteers worked 199 times for a total of 403 hours. The Council also approved a $1,000 contribution to the Region XII Council of Governments Housing Authoirty. The meeting concluded with a budgeting workshop.
