Greene County and Paton-Churdan High Schools competed this past Saturday at the Iowa High School Speech Association District Large Group Contest.

Greene County Speech Coach Kelley Gray says five of their six events earned a Division I rating and qualified for the state contest. The events that will be advancing on include: choral reading, ensemble acting, short film, radio news and group improvisation. One act play received a Division II rating. Paton-Churdan Speech Coach Stephanie Pace says both of their events, short film and group mime, earned a Division II rating and will not be moving onto state. In order to qualify for the state competition, an event must have earned a Division I rating.

The state contest will take place on Saturday, February 3rd at Waukee High School.
