A battle of winless Raccoon River Conference boys basketball teams took place in Adel Friday night. The Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers (2-7 overall) welcomed the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays (4-5 overall) to Dallas County for the first league matchup of the season. ADM let a two-point halftime lead slip through their fingers, fallings to Bondurant-Farrar 61-55. The contest featured 16 lead changes and six ties. After the game, ADM head boys basketball coach Aaron Mager said his team didn’t execute well enough in the second half to win the game. “I thought we got a little offensively rushed,” Mager said, “Unfortunately when we did rush things we came away empty quite a bit. I don’t think we took very good shots late, and that technical foul was (called at) a crucial situation with a two point game and our guys have got to do a better job of staying composed and shutting their mouth altogether in that situation.”
ADM held a 30-28 halftime lead and trailed 42-41 after three quarters. ADM trailed 55-53 with 2:16 left in regulation when a technical foul was assessed against the Tigers. The Bluejays outscored ADM 8-2 the rest of the way. ADM senior Rylan Heffernan scored a team-best 17 points, including 12 in the second half. The loss is the sixth straight for the ADM boys basketball team, dropping their overall record to 2-7 and 0-5 inside the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers resume their season tomorrow in Carlisle, battling the Wildcats in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader.
