Greene County Supervisors 1_2Greene County employees have a new option that is focused on providing efficient access to medical treatment.

The Board of Supervisors recently approved the Teledoc’s “Healthiest You” program. It allows the 70 participants on the plan to make a phone call or see a physician, 24-hours a day, to get a diagnosis and possible treatment for medications, whenever it’s convenient for the participant. Supervisor Chair John Muir explains the Board’s decision to take advantage of the program.

“I think if the participation is there (it would mean) two things: one is cost, I think that’ll save us in cost, and then the convenience. I know, in my own case, my grandchildren a lot of times they’ve got it worked into their schedule to make a doctor’s appointment and get there. If they can make a phone call and give the symptoms, and get a diagnosis, it should work great for that too.”

The cost is $14 per month, per employee, for a total cost of $11,760. The Board also requested to track participation of the program, which Muir says was one of his biggest concerns.

“In order for it to be worthwhile we have to participate, we have to use it. That takes time to change people over to that way of thinking and to take advantage of something like this. But we just need to push it through our department heads and ourselves that it’s there, and this is how to utilize it, and get them comfortable with it so they do use it.”

Teledoc’s “Healthiest You” program will be reviewed by the Board on an annual basis.
