A high-speed chase involving Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputies Thursday resulted in injuries and an arrest for 40-year-old Jason Richard Spence of Minburn.

Just after 3 p.m., the Perry Police Department was alerted to an erratic driver heading east on Warford Street. Shortly after, the Dallas County Dispatch Center received a call saying the erratic driver was spotted around Minburn. Deputies located the Chevrolet pickup driven by Spence and attempted to pull him over. However, the suspect attempted to escape and a chase ensued. Sheriff Chad Leonard told Raccoon Valley Radio Spence reached speeds of around 85-miles-per-hour before losing control and crashing in the 21000 block of Midland Trail. No one else was involved in the wreck, though Leonard said he did hit a parked vehicle while driving through Minburn.

The deputies took him into custody, first transporting him to Dallas County Hospital for facial lacerations. Following treatment, he was transported to the Dallas County Jail, where he is currently being held on a class D felony charge for eluding. He also faces several misdemeanor charges, including: driving while barred; failure to obey a stop sign; failure to yield to an emergency vehicle; leaving the scene of an accident; failure to maintain control; and reckless driving.
