The Festival of Trees in Perry ended recently, and raised over $900 for the Carnegie Library and Hometown Heritage.
Throughout the December event, people donated $304 through the quilt and quilt ornament raffle, $296.37 in tree votes, and $319.01 in loose donations for a total of $919.38. The money from the raffle and tree voting will all go directly to the Carnegie Library Museum for maintenance and programming. The loose donations are split between the library and Hometown Heritage, which directly supports the library’s exhibits and programs.
The Festival of Trees organizers felt the annual event was a big success once again this year, and provided a free family event the whole community was able to enjoy. They were also pleased by the amount and quality of the tree submissions, which were voted on by the attendees. The tree with the most votes was from Raccoon River Valley Bicycle Company, while the tree with the highest amount of donations was from the Walking School Bus.
