logo-Iowa-DNRIowa hunters have enjoyed relatively warm fall and winter seasons. However, the frigid temperatures will help usher out the season a week from today. Late muzzleloader and archery seasons for deer and turkey will all end next Wednesday, when all current licenses will expire.

The seasons for deer and turkey may be coming to an end soon, but it’s never too early to start planning for next season. The Department of Natural Resources has plenty of options to get your hunting license early. Resident hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses are $19 for the year and can be purchased online, over the phone, or in person at the Guthrie County Recorder’s Office and any other registered outlets. As a reminder, Iowa law requires anyone born after January 1, 1972 to be certified in hunter education before purchasing a license. Additional fees and regulations apply for specific licenses.
