WCVYesterday’s frigid temperatures caused schools in the West Central Valley School District to be cancelled. To stay informed, the district is encouraging parents and community members to utilize a text-alert service for delay and cancellation reminders.

The district uses a system from Remind Updates, which requires a subscription through your mobile device. Middle School Principal Anthony Lohse talks about the system and how it works. “You can go to the district website. On our front page, there’s a tab on the right side that says ‘text alert system’ and that gives you directions. I get the call from Dr. Arnold and I get that text out to all the parents and students as soon as possible. It’s super easy, you just text a number and it will tell you exactly what you need to do.”

Lohse says he tries to maintain those systems for weather and safety related purposes only. Also be sure to tune in to Raccoon Valley Radio for all cancellation and postponement announcements from area schools.
