IMG_1983The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday. The Board elected Everett Grasty as Chair and Tom Rutledge as Vice-Chair for 2018.

The Board then approved a payment of $136,660 towards the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP) annual premium. The Board also approved the following appointments and motions: county holidays, the Bayard Gazette and Guthrie County Vedette as official newspapers, and individual Supervisors’ representation on various additional committees and boards. The Board also approved a 60-day extension offer for the county medical examiners and ending budgeting sessions by April 1st.

Then Transfer Station Executive Director Jotham Arber addressed the Board on securing a new telehandler. Arber originally preferred the option to lease the equipment, however he is concerned the logistics of the lease wouldn’t be feasible for the amount of heavy-duty lifting required at the station. Arber also requested to eventually lease a skid loader to compliment the new telehandler. The Board will discuss the purchase further after Arber secures some final quotes.
