The Greene County High School boys’ basketball season resumes on Friday in Jewell vs. unbeaten and top 10 rated South Hamilton. Greene County and PCM (Monroe) have just one Heart of Iowa Activities Conference loss, and those are the top three teams heading into the middle part of the schedule. Coach Chris Nelson’s team is 5-1 in conference games and overall, the Rams are 6-3.
We continue our conversation with Mitch Moore, Activities Director at Greene County High School. “It’s a team that’s got a lot of talent on the court. The more they play together and the more they practice, the better they’ll become. Led by Trey Hinote, who on any given night can drop 25. He is certainly a special talent on the basketball court. He’s got to continue to be the leader of that team. Lance Hughes is long and lengthy and can penetrate and dish with good vision. Then, what’s really fun to see is Ben Bravard, Carter Morton, JP (Jordan Patterson), who is a starter, but those guys that provide that spark and energy that really make it kind of of a dangerous team. On any given night, they could be anybody. We (Coach Nelson, Coach Morton, and Coach Moore) just want to see them be a little more consistent.”
Coach Moore called senior Wade Adcock the steady and most consistent player. The 6′ 4″ post is averaging double figures in both points and rebounds and is shooting well over 50% from the field and better than 70% from the free throw line. “Wade’s as good a kid as he is a basketball player.”
The action Friday night can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
