There’s still time to sign up for a federally-funded program to help give some relief to your heating bill this winter.
The Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is an income-based program which helps pay part of a qualified homeowner’s heating bill from November 1st through April 30th. New Opportunities of Greene County Coordinator Teresa Lansman says once you are qualified for the program, you are guaranteed to not have your heat shut off.
In order to qualify for LIHEAP, applicants must schedule an appointment. Information to bring with you to the appointment includes: social security cards for everyone in the household, proof of income and a utility bill statement.
To schedule an appointment, call New Opportunities in Jefferson at 386-2719.
