Dallas Co EMS

At a recent meeting of the Dallas County Supervisors, the Emergency Medical Services Department came to the Board with two requests.

The first was a billing adjustment request from an individual they had recently aided. Life Quest allows patients to apply for a reduction in their bill if there is an issue with their ability to pay. EMS Director Mike Thomason said they found the patient’s request acceptable, and the Supervisors agreed, approving the billing adjustment request.

The other request by the EMS Department was for a cardiac monitor purchase to outfit their new first response vehicle. Thomason had brought the request to the Board earlier in the year, and they asked him to get more bids to make sure the price was fair. Thomason returned with a bid from Cardio Partners, which was $100 less than the Zoll monitor he had originally found. However, he emphasized they’ve used Zoll in the past and they are comfortable with the company, their machines, and their maintenance. Thomason felt the $100 difference was worth it for the added peace of mind.

The Supervisors unanimously approved the cardiac monitor request.
