It’s been an incredible beginning to the 2017-2018 season for the Panorama girls basketball program.

The girls are off until after the first of the year. So, with 2017 in the rearview mirror, let’s look at the first eleven games of the season by the numbers.

The Panthers are currently 10-1 and at the top of the West Central Conference with a 1.5 game lead over second place Des Moines Christian (8-2). Nine of those ten victories have come in the form of a month-long winning streak. In the second game of the season at a neutral site against Springville, Panorama came up short in overtime by a score of 65-53. That loss to the two-time defending Class 1A state champions happened on November 11th. They have not dropped a game since.

During this streak, the Panthers have averaged 59 points per game while allowing only 31 points per game. This puts their average margin of victory at a dominant 28 points. They are in the top ten in 2A girls basketball in total points (635), free throw percentage (71.5), and 3 pointers made (62).

The numbers tell a story of a very balanced and consistent squad on both sides of the court. The Panthers hope to make 2018 a year of drama and tournament success. It would appear they are well on their way.
