Greene County residents are encouraged to check out the Greene County Community Center for free next week, while helping out a good cause.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says anyone can use the community center in Jefferson for free, with a non-perishable food item donation per day, from December 26th through January 3rd. All food donations will be given to the Greene County Action Resource Center. Lautner points out that since school is not in session during that week, it’s a great opportunity for kids to utilize their facility.
“Well some of those kids don’t have memberships and $5 per day adds up during that week. We decided it would be helpful to the community to just have them bring in a canned good because I think everybody has a canned good, or a box of mashed potatoes, or something that they could bring in for the food pantry. That way it’s helping two causes.”
At least one non-perishable food item is required per person, per day, from December 26th through January 3rd, to use the community center for free.
