As the Greene County School District prepares for winter break, there has been lots of activities happening at all grade levels.

At the elementary building, the new addition, including four classrooms and the main entryway, is now operational. Principal Scott Johnson is pleased with the progress and appreciates everyone’s patience while the project was finishing up.

“Parents have been awesome in all of this. That’s a long hallway to walk down everyday. I want to applaud the parents. They have been more than understanding in all of this. I do very much appreciate that from them.”

The high school construction class has been hard at work since the beginning of the school year, building another new house on East Wilcox Way. It was reported at the school board meeting Wednesday that siding is going up and some electrical work is done, along with plumbing. Another project that will start soon after winter break is renovating the second floor of the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency building on the northside of the downtown square in Jefferson.

Also, the middle school music department recently held their holiday concert at the middle school. Finally, several high school Interact and National Honor Society students helped with the recent Habitat for Humanity Nativity Festival.

Greene County Schools will be on winter break from December 25th through January 3rd.
