The final dual of the calendar year took the West Central Valley wrestling team to the capital city Tuesday. The Wildcats traveled to Des Moines East High School for a nonconference triangular against the Scarlets and the Des Moines Hoover Huskies. West Central Valley returned to Stuart with one dual victory.
The Wildcats opened the night grappling the Hoover Huskies. West Central Valley recorded eight wins overall, four pinfalls and four wins by forfeit, in a 48-27 victory. Cole Sackett (152), Matthew Clark (160), Carson Wadle (182), and Alex Wells (285) all brought their opponents to their back. The final dual of the night saw Des Moines East top West Central Valley, 55-24. The Wildcats won four of the 14 weight classes against the Scarlets, and all were by fall. West Central Valley wrestlers who recorded pinfalls against East include Kiefer Wallace (106), Sackett (152), Wadle (182), and Wells.
The results push West Central Valley’s dual record to 10-5 overall. The Wildcats resumes their season on Thursday, January 4, in a home triangular against Logan-Magnolia and Tri-Center.
