One nonconference doubleheader stands between the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers basketball teams and the start of the holiday break. The Tigers close the calendar year’s competition at home tonight against the Pella Little Dutch. ADM will have the next two weeks off before resuming their season January 5 versus Bondurant-Farrar.
After starting the season with five straight losses, the ADM girls basketball team (3-6 overall) has found some recent success. The Tigers have won three of their last four games, including Tuesday’s 58-45 victory on the road against the Carroll Tigers (1-6 overall). Junior Emma Jacobsen dropped a career-high 21 points, setting a new school record with five made three-point baskets. Pella (5-3 overall) enters tonight’s contest winning four of their last five games, including 59-46 at Norwalk on Tuesday.
The ADM boys basketball team hopes to snap a current losing streak before entering the holiday break. The Tigers have lost five in a row, including four Raccoon River Conference contests by an average of 14.5 points per game. ADM’s latest setback came Tuesday in Carroll, falling 81-60. The game featured seven first-half lead changes and was tied at 37 at the break. Carroll outscored ADM, 29-10, in the third quarter to break the game open. Senior Caleb Herrick poured in 12 points and five rebounds to lead ADM in the loss. Pella is looking to return to winning form after losing Tuesday in Norwalk, 72-53.
