Three Perry girls made their first varsity start Tuesday night at Winterset as the Jayettes fell to the Huskies 43-26 in Raccoon River Conference action.  Quinn Whiton, Natalie Martinez and Hannah Peterson started their first varsity game as head coach Chris Morrow made good on his promise to shake things up to try and spark a fire with his team.  The strategy nearly worked against a talented Winterset squad.  Perry trailed only by one point at the end of the first quarter but a 6 minute scoring drought in late in the first half allowed Winterset to open up a double digit lead at halftime.  Perry never backed down charging back early in the third quarter.  Alyssa Kruger and Molly Lutmer hit early three’s to cut the Husky lead down to 5 midway through the third quarter.  That was as close as Perry would come as Winterset used their size inside with 6-3 forward Madison Wauters and Mia Olson’s long range shooting.  Wauters finished with 12 points while Olson connected for 16.

Molly Lutmer led all scorers for Perry with 17 points.

Perry returns home Thursday night for a game with Ogden.
