There are some 30 members of the Greene County High School wrestling team, but only about a half dozen have any appreciable varsity experience. Senior Isaac Ireland is one of those. He began wrestling in ninth grade and has shown improvement over the years.
Ireland was asked what his strengths as a wrestler are. “On top in the riding position is probably a strength because I prefer riding the legs. If I’m on my feet, I prefer an ankle pick. That’s one of my two go-to moves.” Ireland wrestled at 160 lbs. the first week of the season.
The Rams host Gilbert and ADM on Thursday in the middle school gym in Jefferson starting at 5:30 p.m. They’ll be in the Ogden dual meet tournament this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
Junior Clint Dennhardt at 182 lbs. had the top record for the Rams last week, going 6-1 in seven matches.
