The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.
City Administrator Sven Peterson was absent from the meeting, so the bulk of the discussion began during open forum. A representative with the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance gave a brief overview of some of the statistics from the last year, as well as how Perry fits in with that and future plans. Next, Fire Chief Chris Hinds gave a report, since he was unable to attend the year-end meeting last Friday. He emphasized that the consolidation of the Perry and Dawson Volunteer Fire Departments has worked out well and been beneficial to everyone involved.
In new business, the Council approved continuing financial support for the Dallas County Local Housing Trust Fund. The amount they will be contributing is $5,776.50, or $0.75 per capita. Next, they approved the appointment of official publications for notices, which includes submitting public service announcements to Raccoon Valley Radio. The Council also approved several appointments for the coming calendar year, including various City positions, the compliance officer, and the standing committees. Finally, they passed a resolution approving the five-year airport capital improvement plan running from fiscal year 2019 through 2023.
The meeting concluded with setting December 18th as the date for a public hearing on continuing a guarantee agreement with the “Nudgers” group. To learn more about the Perry City Council meeting, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
