A midday incident at the Tyson Foods plant Monday in Perry resulted in two individuals being flown to the University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center in Iowa City.
Air ambulances from both Mercy and Methodist hospitals arrived at Tyson shortly after noon. Dallas County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Infante says initial reports indicated there was a workplace accident at the facility that resulted in four people suffering burns. He said there was no fire, but the workers suffered from steam burns of some kind. Infante says two men suffered severe burns all over their bodies, which necessitated the air ambulances. Both were awake and alert when brought to the helicopters. Two more individuals were burned in the incident and reportedly went to Dallas County Hospital for treatment on their own.
The circumstances of the incident and the names of those involved is unknown at this time. The Perry Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services were assisting at the scene.
