christmasdecorWhen together, red and green are often associated with Christmas and the holiday season. It’s fitting then that Redfield and Greenfield will be hosting holiday events today.

In Redfield, the festivities for this year’s Winterfest begin at West Central Valley Middle School. There will be plenty of craft vendors, a cookie walk, and food available for purchase from 9am-3pm. Kids will have an opportunity from 1-1:30pm to meet Santa and receive a goodie bag, while everyone is invited for Bingo in the school commons from 1-3. The event then shifts to the American Legion Hall and City Park. Entries into this year’s chili competition can be dropped off at the American Legion Hall starting at 3:30, with judging to begin at 4. At 5pm, the tree and holiday display will be lit at the park, followed immediately by the chili feed in the hall. The feed lasts until 7pm for a free-will donation.

In Greenfield, events will be taking place at the Warren Cultural Center. From 10am-4pm Greenfield Business Women will conduct their annual Chocolate Affair Extraordinaire. This portion of the day gives holiday shoppers a chance to purchase homemade chocolate and goodies for $10 per pound. All proceeds from this portion of the event will go towards their student scholarship program. Simultaneously the tour of trees decorated by local artists and businesses will be on display. The cost is $5 to view the nearly 30 trees, with proceeds going towards cardiac rehab equipment at Adair County Memorial Hospital.
