Greene County lost to Gilbert 50-34 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ basketball on Friday night in the middle school gym in Jefferson. the loss was the first in three games for Coach Dean Lyons’ team, while the Tigers improved to 3-1. The Rams led 10-7 after one quarter, but trailed 23-18 at halftime and were down 38-23 at the end of the third quarter. the biggest lead for the Tigers was late in the game at 46-26. Gilbert was led in scoring by Sarah Hinners with 11 points, followed by 10 from Emma Bulman and nine by Jordyn Milhous. Greene County had 14 points from Laurin Lyons and seven from Onica Delp, who also blocked four shots.

The Tigers went four of 10 from the foul line and 22 of 54 from the floor including two of 14 from three-point range. They turned the ball over 14 times.

The Rams had 22 turnovers, went 12 of 16 shooting free throws and 10 of 36 from the floor. The Rams made two of six shots beyond the arc.
