The season opener for the West Central Valley Wildcats (0-1) took place Tuesday night in Stuart. The Wildcats welcomed the Woodward-Granger Hawks to Guthrie County for a West Central Activities Conference showdown. The Hawks jumped out to a 22-11 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 66-39 victory. Woodward-Granger had three players score in double figures including 11 points each for Bryce Achenbach and Kaya Bowlsby. Junior Cole Arnburg led West Central Valley with 12 points, while Evan Taylor pitched in 11. The result moves West Central Valley’s overall record to 0-1 on the young season. The Wildcats return to the court Friday in Panora in a rivalry matchup versus Panorama (0-1).
