The public is invited to a final presentation to see plans of how to connect all of the City of Jefferson’s parks and school buildings.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says Iowa State University Landscape Architecture and Community and Regional Planning student Zoey Mauck will be at the Greene County Community Center at 5:30pm on Thursday, November 30th to give her final presentation of how she plans to connect the schools and parks in Jefferson. Lautner talks about why they want to pursue a project like this.
“Basically to make it a safe route. I do know that the elementary school does go to Russell Park. We do have some students that go to Kelso Park. We have several parks in Jefferson and we’d just like to be able for people to ride their bikes, or walk to the parks, and enjoy our parks, and then be able to get around safely.”
Lautner says Mauck has done some research on her own for the project, as well as holding several public input meetings to incorporate into her final presentation. She adds that the next steps will be to give all of the information to the parks and rec board to develop phases that they can recommend to the City Council.
Thursday’s presentation is open to the public.
