Guthrie County 4-H recently commemorated the past year’s accomplishments and achievements with an awards ceremony at Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School.

Several members received awards for their years of involvement and service to their respective clubs. There were also awards given for record book keeping. 4-H and Youth Coordinator Mollie Clark talks about some of the more interesting awards the organization gives out. “We also do some really fun ones like the ‘I Dare You’ Award, which is set up to challenge a kid to step outside the box. Our other special one to Guthrie County is a ‘Hard Luck Story.’ The young one who received that award lost two of his projects the week before the county fair.”

Clark also mentioned that Alumni Award winner Frank Kastner came up with an idea for a welding workshop through 4-H. The class will give kids the chance to make their own Christmas trees and will be offered in mid-December.

4-H enrollment is also still open until December 1st. For more information, contact the Guthrie County Extension office.
