The Panorama Panthers girl’s basketball team starts its 2017-2018 season tonight with a home game against Gilbert. It’s the start of what panthers fans hope will be a very productive season, as the team returns most of the pieces from last years 22-2 finish.
Gilbert isn’t ready to roll over, however, and has already proved themselves dangerous in an overtime win against Ballard last Friday. As the Panthers look to open the year with a win, The coaching staff stresses spacing and defensive fundamentals as the key to Its talented roster fulfilling its full potential.
A new season will present new challenges and opportunities, but the coaching staff and roster seem determined to produce the same results they enjoyed game in and game out last year.
When asked about the importance of these early season matchups, and his decision to schedule a game before the thanksgiving break, Panthers head coach Dan Druivenga highlighted the benefits of playing tough games before the break and getting into game shape early.
The game will be played at Panorama High School Tonight. Opening tip is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
