lighted christmas

This Friday at 7 p.m. is the annual Lighted Christmas Parade in Perry, and immediately after the parade concludes the community is invited to La Poste for the “Poste Holiday Lighted Parade Party.”

La Poste co-owner Jenny Eklund says when she moved to Perry around 20 years ago, she immediately fell in love with the annual holiday parade. “One of the best things I found about Perry was this lighted parade. I was so impressed with it. And so we’ve always wanted to be a part of it, and this year we had the opportunity. So the Chamber, some community members, (and) the City came to us and said, ‘Jenny would you entertain this idea?’ I said, ‘Heck yeah, I would!’”

The festivities will feature events for all ages. On the front porch of La Poste, the Perry High School Junior Class Prom Committee will be selling s’mores packages as a fundraiser. In the main gallery, attendees will be treated to holiday music from flutist Christian Loaiza, the St. Patrick’s 1st-3rd grade singers, and the Perry High School Select Choir. There will also be hot chocolate, fresh cookies, and door prizes in the form of 25 stockings, each with a surprise inside. Additionally, Santa will be making an appearance starting at 7:45 p.m.

For the adult attendees, there will be more activities in the Cellar, including Genevieve Salamone, the One-Woman Orchestra, hor d’oeuvres, Andy’s Special Holiday Drink, and a cash bar. Eklund adds, the whole building will be decorated by around 70 poinsettias, as well as lights, gifts, and trees.
