The ACGC girls basketball team played in their first scrimmage of the season against Exira-EHK last Thursday. The Lady Chargers are already showing that no lead is too large, turning an 18-0 hole into a 35-36 result at the end of the scrimmage.
Head Coach Aaron Dose had to call two timeouts in the first portion of the scrimmage and was able to settle the team down and refocus their attention on defensive efforts. Dose talks about the turnaround in the second quarter of their one-half match. “We were able to turn some things around. We hit some shots, had some kids that hadn’t played varsity before kind of step up. We got some scoring that was pretty even so I was happy with that.”
Dose was thrilled to play Exira-EHK in the scrimmage and commented on how their defensive presence allowed for teachable moments for the squad. The Lady Chargers open the regular season with a non-conference match-up at Audubon tonight at 6 pm. You can catch the rest of Dose’s interview on tonight’s Guthrie County PM Sports Page.
