The Greene County Rams played Hall of Pride girls and boys basketball scrimmages on Saturday night in Carroll vs. the Kuemper Catholic Knights at Kuemper High School. These were scrimmages that do not count on the season record, but they were in game like conditions with four quarters of eight minutes each in team uniforms, and certified officials working the games.
Kuemper won both, taking the girls’ scrimmage 63-44, then winning the boys by a 65-62 final.
Greene County girls’ head coach Dean Lyons told Raccoon Valley Radio he was generally pleased. The Rams led into the second quarter and Greene County had trouble reaching the 40 point mark a season ago when they went 4-18.
On the boys’ side, Chris Nelson, the head coach of the Rams, would have like to have come out on top, but he said the scrimmage gave the Rams something to build on. He said his team said some good things against a quality opponent.
