The 2016-17 Greene County girls’ basketball team had a 4-18 record. The Rams weren’t able to stay healthy for much of the season, something head coach Dean Lyons talked about with Raccoon Valley Radio. “I’ve never seen anything like it in my life! We had two concussions, sickness, knee injuries. It was just one of those years you couldn’t believe all that happened, but with hopefully, some good Karma, this will be our year and we’ll stay away from that.”
Laurin Lyons, the daughter of the coach, has been on the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference honorable mention list each of the past two seasons. She was the leading scorer on the team each of the past two seasons. She’s joined by a handful of other players with varsity experience, and the coach is hoping for an improved season.
The official start for the Rams is in Ogden for a girl JV/varsity twin bill on Monday, Nov. 27.
