The Perry School Board met Monday evening for both a work session and regular session.

The work session focused on the three-year major facilities project plan. Specifically the Board discussed funds available in the Statewide Penny for Infrastructure and the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy funds, as well as determining priorities in the project. Some priorities included a vehicle replacement, the electrical systems at the middle school, and possibly the LED lighting project. The Board agreed to review the funds and projects and come back with their recommendations in another work session to be held on Thursday, December 7th at 5 p.m.

The regular meeting started with reports from the principals at the three schools. Each went over the attendance for parent teacher conferences, which were around 96% at the elementary, 92% at the middle school, and 89% at the high school. Each principal said that’s right where they expected the numbers to be. They also each discussed the transition to standards-based grading, though it hasn’t yet been implemented at the high school.

After the reports, the Board was given a presentation by Mike Murphy from Larson Engineering about the Dewey Field improvement project master plan. He took them through the four phases of the project, including what individual projects will be tackled and how much each phase will cost. Phase one will include the entryway, concession stands, and adding 1,000 seats in the north bleachers, which will become the home side. Phase one is estimated to cost around $1.2 million. The Board approved the master plan, as well as a contract with Larson Engineering.

Finally, the Board approved this year’s application for additional allowable growth, revisions to Board policies, and the hires, transfers, and terminations.
