The Paton-Churdan School District will honor military veterans this Friday with a few activities.
Student Council Advisor Amanda Tasler says the free program begins at 9am inside the school’s gym in Churdan. It features elementary students leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the middle and high school students performing a couple of patriotic songs. The US Navy Honor Detachment will conduct an American flag folding ceremony and there will be a Bugle Across America representative from Omaha, Nebraska to play Taps at the end of the program. It will also highlight the featured speaker, which is American Legion Post 11 Adjutant John Longergan.
All veterans and the public are invited to the free program, with free coffee and cinnamon rolls for veterans to follow.
Later that evening, the American Legion Edward English Post 198 will be serving a soup supper from 5 to 7pm in the school cafeteria. Free-will donations will be accepted.
