Greene County High School is hosting a Veterans Day program Friday.
Student Council will be serving a free breakfast to all local veterans at 7:30am at the Ram Restaurant. Student Council member Haley Hall says they will also have drawings for several patriotic items donated by Vicki Gustafson and FCCLA (Farmers, Career and Community Leaders of America). Following breakfast will be a presentation at 8:20am in the auditorium.
A special guest speaker will highlight the program. The speaker is US Air Force Veteran Ryan Stott. He currently serves in the South Dakota Air Guard and lives in Jefferson. There will also be a performance from the high school choir, readings from student council students and a tribute video from Ram News. Student Council President Reagan Lamoureux explains how she feels about including Ram News into this year’s Veterans Day program.
“I’m really excited for this because Ram News has been doing a lot of different stuff with their videos and they’ve gotten, I think, really good at it. So it’ll be interesting to see what they say and do, because the teacher in charge of Ram News is Sarah Stott. Her husband is the speaker so she’ll have that personal connection with it, which will make it really great.”
Hall describes why she wanted to be involved in the program to celebrate Veterans Day.
“The program we put on is probably my favorite part of student council because you actually see everything that you’ve put together come to fulfillment. You can’t just go up and say ‘Thank you’ because really no words can show your gratitude because of everything they’ve done for us.”
