Greene County’s high school football season has been over for two weeks, but Coach Mitch Moore’s Rams are very much interested in tonight’s Class 3A quarterfinals. That’s because the Rams played two of the remaining eight teams in 3A. Greene County lost in week two to Harlan by a 41-7 score, then lost in week three on the road to Dallas Center-Grimes, 31-12. The Cyclones are 9-1 and host 10-0 Sergeant Bluff-Luton, while 10-0 DC-G hosts 9-1 Pella at Grimes. The Mustangs ended Pella’s 46 game winning streak in the second week of the season for its only loss, meaning wins in 55 of its last 56 games including the last three Class 3A State titles for the Little Dutch.

Greene County went 1-8 for the second straight season as one of 3A’s smaller programs. In 2016 and so far this season, the Rams have played one of the more difficult schedules in the Class. So far this season, the nine opponents of the Rams are a combined 52-34 with six opponents winning at least three more games than they lost.

Tonight’s winners in all six classes advance to the semifinals in the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls next week.
