Unemployment rates in September saw a decrease across the Raccoon River Valley area.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County dropped 0.1-percent from August to September for those without a job to 2.2-percent. Greene County saw a major drop in unemployment from 3-percent in August to 2.3-percent in September. Guthrie County saw a 0.1-percent dip in unemployment to 2.9-percent in September from 3-percent in August.
Each county is doing better this year than they did this month last year. In September of 2016, Dallas County was at 2.6-percent unemployment, while Greene County was at 2.6-percent and Guthrie County was at 3.2-percent.
Iowa’s unemployment rate for September was 3-percent. The national unemployment rate was 4.2-percent.
